About Utah's Online Public Library

What is Utah's Online Library?

Utah's Online Library, formerly Pioneer, is a consortium of libraries: Utah's Online Public Library: maintained by the Utah State Library Division (representing public libraries), the Utah's Online School Library: maintained by the Utah Education Network (representing K-12 libraries), and Utah's Online Academic Library: maintained by the Utah Academic Library Consortium (representing college and university libraries), together with Utah's public and school librarians. Utah's Online Library provides public libraries with great online resources: OverDrive, RBdigital, EBSCOhost databases, LearningExpress Library, HeritageQuest Online, Utah Newspapers, and more!

Pioneer was created as virtual library by the Utah State Library Division in cooperation with Utah's public libraries in 1995. It is one component of the statewide project, which serves Utah's public schools and academic institutions, as well as patrons of public libraries. In addition to this website, for all Utah residents and public libraries, there are two other websites under the banner: Academic, designed to meet the needs of university and college students, and K-12, designed for primary and secondary school students and teachers. Additionally, Preschool Pioneer, for children ages 3-6, was launched in the fall of 2008.

NOTE: Parents should be aware that children have access to all materials in the online library. Utah's Online Public Library does not monitor¬†or restrict¬†your child’s selections. It is your responsibility as a parent to be aware of what your child is checking out and viewing.
